The jubilee year is being celebrated from Dec. 24, 2024 to Jan. 6, 2026. The theme is "Pilgrims of Hope." The late Pope Francis began the jubilee by opening the holy door of Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. More than 35 million pilgrims are expected to visit the holy door along with other holy sites in Italy.
For pilgrims unable to travel to Rome, Bishop Taylor designated the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock (mother church of our diocese), the Shrine of Divine Mercy (in St. Edward Church in Little Rock), Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Smith, St. Joseph Church in Pine Bluff and St. Mary Church in Helena as jubilee churches for holy year pilgrims in Arkansas to have opportunities for reconciliation, indulgences and other events intended to strengthen and revive their faith.
The Diocese of Little Rock began its celebration of the jubilee year with a special procession and Mass Sunday. Dec. 29 in Little Rock.
