Location: Holy day of obligation - Diocesan offices closed

Contact Your Parish for Mass Times

All Saints Day is celebrated on Nov. 1. It is a holy day of obligation to attend Mass. To find holy day Mass times in your area, contact a parish near you. The diocesan offices are closed on this day. Catholics honor saints who by their example teach us how to live "hallowed" or "holy" lives on All Saints Day. Arkansas Catholic explains that this feast day is a special time for the Church to remember those who have died and gone to heaven. This includes all saints, not just those who are known to us (those canonized by the Church). Catholic teaching holds that all people in heaven are saints. We ask them to pray for us so that we go to heaven as well. This holy day began in the Western Church around 609 A.D. when the Pantheon at Rome was consecrated by Pope Boniface IV to the Blessed Virgin Mary and all martyrs.

— Collect Prayer for All Saints Day —

Let us pray today. Almighty ever-living God, by whose gift we venerate in one celebration the merits of all the saints, bestow on us, we pray, through the prayers of so many intercessors, an abundance of the reconciliation with you for which we earnestly long. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Prayer courtesy Loyola Press.
