Noa Lessenberry, a St. Bernard of Clairvaux parishioner in Bella Vista and high school senior, is hosting a free human trafficking awareness event at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Mountain Home. Human trafficking has evolved with the digital age, making children accessible to perpetrators in new ways. Find out how to recognize and protect your child from the second most profitable criminal enterprise globally at these events that are for students in fifth grade and up, their parents, grandparents and other family members and friends who would like to learn about this important and often overlooked topic that is happening in our own communities. All children younger than 18 must attend with a parent or legal guardian. Guest speakers include Mark Ives of the Diocese of Little Rock Task Force Against Human Trafficking and Pornography, Sgt. Matt Foster of the Arkansas State Police and Arkansas Human Trafficking Council and representatives of the nonprofit organization Into the Light.
