$480,000 raised for seminarian education

Published: September 18, 2017

Three Taste of Faith dinners were held in Arkansas this summer that raised more than $480,000 for seminarian education in the Diocese of Little Rock.

The first was held in Jonesboro on June 10, during which $94,905 was donated by attendees from northeast Arkansas. On Aug. 5, central Arkansans contributed $303,940 in Little Rock and $82,290 was given by northwest Arkansas residents in Rogers.

In addition to a dinner, guests are treated to musical entertainment by the seminarian band, testimonials and talks by Vocations director Msgr. Scott Friend and Bishop Anthony B. Taylor. Door prizes included original framed artwork by local Catholic artists.

The diocese currently has 28 seminarians, making the need for educational funds a top priority. It costs an estimated $41,000 a year to educate a seminarian for the priesthood. If you would like to support seminarian education, you may donate online or contact the Vocations and Seminarians Office at (501) 664-0340.
