The Catholic Schools Office is responsible for providing leadership for administration and supervision of the elementary and secondary Catholic schools, both parochial and private, in the diocese. This office coordinates educational programs according to the philosophy of Catholic education and priorities outlined by the bishop. In addition, this office serves as liaison between the Church and state in all matters pertaining to education. The superintendent acts as advocate and spokesman for the 31 Catholic schools in the diocese with an enrollment of 7,110 students. Read about our Catholic Schools

Statement of Philosophy

The Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Little Rock seek to offer high quality academic programs which are integrated with religious truth and values. Students are prepared for life in today's Church and for leadership in both society and the Church of tomorrow. We provide a strong, basic and contemporary curriculum which includes instruction and formation in the beliefs, values and traditions of Catholic Christianity.

Services
  • Provides in-service programs for principals

  • Organizes educational conferences for teachers

  • Coordinates national achievement tests scoring

  • Assists consultants in developing policies

  • Serves as executive secretary to diocesan board of education
  • Conducts workshops for school boards

  • Makes annual visitation and evaluation of schools

  • Coordinates efforts of curriculum committees

  • Interviews and approves applicants for position of principal

  • Maintains personnel files on all principals and teachers

  • Assists with long-range planning for Catholic education

  • Makes presentations upon request to parent groups

  • Serves as liaison for Catholic schools with State Department of Education
