Step-by-Step Guide to Online Library

Step 1

Enter: http://library.dolr.org

Search for items using the following steps:

Step 2

In the “search for” box, type in the name of the author, title, subject, series or call number. Click on the corresponding giant graphic.

To view more results, click on the large up and down arrows.

Step 3

For additional information regarding your search, click on the title of the item you wish to review.

Step 4

Once you have found the item(s) you wish to check out, you have a choice of directly sending an e-mail to the librarian or logging in at the Web site.

E-mail

To send your request via e-mail, click on “library information” on the left. The librarian’s e-mail address is given at the bottom of the page. Click. Your e-mail sheet is ready for you to place your order. It will be necessary to type your request on your e-mail as this information does not transfer automatically to your e-mail message.

Log-In at the Website

Log-In requires a username and password. The librarian will assign a user number (bar code number) at the request of eligible patrons. The password is the patron’s last name.

It is not necessary to log-in in order to search (browse) the collection. However, to place an order, you must log-in.

Note the words “Place Hold” and “Place Reservation” on the bottom line of the item detail page (Figure 4). See “Definition of Terms” for directions for this procedure.

Step 5

The next screen to appear will show that your order has been placed. If you wish to order or research additional items, return to the search page and continue in the same manner beginning with Step 2.

Fee Charges

Fees are charged when items are overdue, damaged or lost. Items are checked out for a 21-day period. There is a charge of $.25 per day for overdue items. You will be charged replacement cost, if the item is lost or damaged.

To avoid having items overdue, you may wish to e-mail or phone the librarian to request a renewal of any item you wish to use an additional period of time.
