1 Calligraphy course
St. Scholastica Retreat Center, Fort Smith
Starts May 1
Sister Magdalen Stanton, OSB, will offer “Calligraphy Class: Copperplate” on five consecutive Thursdays in May. Register for afternoon (2-3:30 p.m.) or evening (6-7:30 p.m.) courses. The course fee is $40 plus $10 for supplies.

2-4 Rexfest auction, fun run and carnival
Christ the King Church, Little Rock
Treasure Island is the theme for this year’s Rexfest The weekend begins Friday, May 2 with a silent and live auction in the school gym. The adults-only event begins at 6 p.m. On Saturday, May 3 a 5K and one-mile family run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Family Life Center. After the 5:30 p.m. Mass hamburgers and hot dogs will be served while The Intruders play music. The carnival with rides, games and food will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 4.

3 Parish Dinner
St. Edward Church, Little Rock
Begins after 4 p.m. Mass
BBQ and all the fixings will be served in the cafeteria. After dinner the adults will play bingo for prizes and the kids will enjoy a movie in the gym. Adult tickets are $15 and include dinner, 10 games of bingo, and two tickets that can be exchanged for beer or soda. Child tickets (Ages 6-18) are $7.50 and include dinner, one ticket that can be exchanged for a soda, a movie and a goodie bag. Children under 6 are free.

10 Southern Scholastic Open Chess Tournament
St. Joseph Family Activity Center, Conway
10 a.m.
Open to students in K-12. Each child plays at least five games. Individual and team competition. The top three players and top three teams in each division will win trophies. $20 per player in advance or $25 day of tournament.

10 Discernment of Spirit retreat

Fr. Tom Elliott will offer a mini-retreat on St. Ignatius of Loyola's "Guidelines" to our spiritual experiences. The retreat is free and includes lunch and handouts.Free babysitting.

17 “Caregivers, Renew Your Spirit” workshop
St. Scholastica Retreat Center, Fort Smith
Spiritual nourishment, reflection time and relaxing experiences for caregivers. Workshop presenters are Sister Rachel Dietz, OSB, Kathy Lyon and Vicky Wilke, licensed social workers with Peachtree Hospice. The $10 registration fee includes lunch.

The movement is committed to helping “married couples turn a good (or even ho-hum or boring) marriage into a great marriage.” Couples can be married any length of time, from just a couple of years to 50 years or more. The registration fee is $50.
