sartainBishop J. Peter Sartain's Statement

On Seventh Bishop Being Named for Little Rock

The following statement was provided by Bishop J. Peter Sartain of Joliet, Ill. after the appointment of Bishop-elect Anthony B. Taylor as bishop of Little Rock.

I was very pleased to learn that the Holy Father had appointed Father Anthony Taylor as the seventh bishop of Little Rock. I have known him for more than 30 years, since we were seminarians together.

Bishop-elect Taylor is a humble and insightful man who is deeply committed to the Lord and His people. His pastoral experience is wide, and his love of the Bible and history always enriches his teaching and preaching.

He is down-to-earth and warm, and everyone in the Diocese of Little Rock will soon learn what a gift Pope Benedict has given them.I have personally wished him well and assured him of my prayers. He knows how blessed he is to be named Bishop of Little Rock!
